Shelly Peterson, Bismarck is President of the ND Long Term Care Association. Peterson has been in this position for thirty-two years. In this role she oversees and leads the Association representing long term care facilities before the legislative and executive branches of government including working with governmental agencies to advocate for sound public policy.
She has served on state and national long-term care/health care committees and is past National President of the American Society of HealthCare Association Executives. Currently, Peterson is serving on the Board of Quality Health Associates, the ND Dental Foundation, the ND Department of Health Long Term Care Advisory committee and the ND Health Information Technology Committee. She previously served on the ND Medicaid Advisory Committee. In 2021, Peterson received the first ever Excellence In Leadership Award from the ND Long Term Care Association in recognition of her outstanding leadership and dedication to the Long-Term Care Profession.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of ND and a master's degree in social work/planning and administration from Denver University and is a licensed Social Worker. Prior to her role with the ND Long Term Care Association, Peterson worked for the ND Department of Human Services. Peterson joined the Board in 2022.
